How was your 2023? Are you glad to see the end of it? Or do you not want it to end? How does it compare to the last few years?

For me, as the year comes to a close, I like to look back over the 365 days and reflect on the good, the bad, the ugly, the confusing, the sad, the blessed and the exciting times and situations that have happened. It is so easy to remember and focus on the negative and have a whinge about it so others can sympathise with us and condone a little pity or comparison party. What is more difficult is to acknowledge the mistakes, the wrong decisions, the selfish attitudes and the ungodly thoughts we may have had and how these have impacted our year and brought about some of those negative situations.

Fortunately it doesn’t have to end there!! The God we love and say we have faith in is exactly that….loving and faithful. Our year may not have been that flash with so many negative things going on that were a result of our human weaknesses…but a life with Christ, a life as a child of God means there is always hope, always forgiveness, always grace, always mercy and always a fresh start. Jesus and the Bible ARE always the answer whether it is in church or anywhere else outside of church we go.

Our relationship with Jesus through prayer, reading the Bible and meditating on His words is what will get us through the ugly, the bad, the confusing and the sad days of the rest of this year and next year. Jesus is steadfast, he is dependable, he doesn’t change, he goes nowhere and he is always ready and willing to forgive us, listen to us and help us draw closer to him to be the best version of us we can be.

So, lean on Jesus and have faith in Jesus more and more in 2024. He will never let you down.

This is not a Bible verse but has helped me so often in my life:

Turn you face toward the sunshine of God’s love and the shadows WILL fall behind you.
