Have you been in a relationship with Jesus for a long time? If you are like me and your answer is yes, do you sometimes feel like you’ve read the same Bible words over and over again? It’s like a ‘been there, heard that, read that, seen that, felt that’ kind of scenario. Do you hear yourself saying things like, ‘I know that story, I know what Jesus says and does, I know how I’m supposed to respond, act, think and say’ and the words just go in one ear and out the other because you’ve heard it and known it for so long. I feel like that sometimes.

Recently I was doing my ‘Women of the Bible’ devotion and I was to read a bible passage from Luke’s gospel. I remember saying to myself, ‘Oh I’ve read these gospels so many times, I know these stories inside and out. I guess I’ll just give it a quick glance and skim over’. Plus it was 75 verses long!!!

Luke 1:5 – 80 – Well, I was doing my usual ‘read that’ and ‘know that’ skim read when I swear I have never read one line of the chapter in all my life. It just jumped out and hit me in the face. Do you know this verse?? Luke 1:37 “FOR NO WORD FROM GOD WILL EVER FAIL”. (emphasis mine)

I started to think of all the Christians in the world (including myself) that have had a word from God at some point in their lives but have become downcast or fallen away or disillusioned or bitter or lethargic because that word from God has not happened or doesn’t even look like happening in the near future. Well, Luke 1:37 says, “FOR NO WORD FROM GOD WILL EVER FAIL”.

I want to encourage you today that if you have had a word from God – about you, your children, your spouse, your family, your career, your health- HOLD on to that word with everything you have. Grit your teeth around it, dig your fingernails into it “FOR NO WORD FROM GOD WILL EVER FAIL”. Just as Daniel in Daniel 8:26 had a vision from God but was told that ‘none of these things will happen for a long time’ and Elizabeth had a child in her old age because of a word from God so too will any word you have received from God become a reality. It may not be tomorrow, next month, next year or in your lifetime but it will happen, “FOR NO WORD FROM GOD WILL EVER FAIL” – (Luke 1:37). Go with God today!!
