It seems that we are continuously bombarded by distractions, lies and temptations that can get us off the path that God has for us. Sins usually starts small or relatively mild, but it is the thin end of the wedge. Left unchecked, sins will continue to grow until they destroy us. In our own strength we are helpless but thankfully Jesus’ sacrifice has paid the price to give us the victory over sin. Through Him we can overcome.

‘Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour’ (1 Peter 5:8). Our Father wants only the best for us, whereas our enemy will do anything to destroy us, and he is good at what he does.

How many times do we get caught up in worries and stress in our lives, forgetting to take our concerns to the Lord in prayer? One discipline I struggle with is to cast my cares on Him AND leave them there. It’s such a temptation to pick them back up again. When we ask our Father for help it is so easy to try and solve it ourselves or allow worry to take over. Thankfully our Father has given us the victory over sin already. Jesus has broken sin’s hold on us through His work on the cross. Our debt is paid in full, there’s nothing left for us to pay. We have the power needed, the hard part is living like it. It is a moment-by-moment battle which we can only win by holding on to Jesus. Thankfully we are blessed to be able to walk this journey together helping each other to remain in Him as we go. So let’s join together at the BBQ on Sunday and celebrate the wonderful community we have at Windsor Road.
